All right, I feel like a complete idiot. While browsing some nail blogs a few days ago I found a manicure that I just
had to try out. Of course, now that I need to site my source, I have no idea the blog that I was looking at. If you are reading this right now and have posted this manicure on your blog 2-4 days ago please let me know and I will link you. I'm so sorry that I didn't bookmark your blog! (I'm 99.99% sure it was a girl who lived in New York.)
EDIT: Thanks to Kat I now know the blog I was referring to above. I was visiting Amy's blog over at Gotham Polish, go on and check it out!
This look is another layering mani. I started off with a neutral base colour (Color Club - Pretty In Platinum, 2 thick coats) and added two coats of Wet'n'Wild "Party of Five Glitters". Then, this is where it gets fun, I chose a sheer white with pink shimmer (Maybelline "Brilliant Sparkle") and layered it OVER the glitter. That's right people, I sandwiched a glitter using a sheer polish and the result is fantastic. In my opinion, of course. Feel free to disagree.
Let's take a look at this 'rainbow frosting' mani.

You can see the pink shimmer in this shot. Ouuu, pretty. |
I was initially going to post this "Just Call Me Betty Crocker" because this looks just like the rainbow frosting my Nana used to put on my "sprinkle" birthday cake growing up. Anyway, what do you think of this look? I'm IN LOVE. Seriously. I can't wait to try this out with a dark base and a different sheer. What other combinations do you think would work? Have you tried this before? Comment and let me know what you think. This is very different and I really love it.
Thanks for reading!
Love it!
ReplyDeleteseriously so pretty it makes my heart hurt!!
ReplyDeletenice!
ReplyDeleteit wasn't me you took the idea from, but you did take it from my head... i have a post lined up for tomorrow with the same technique! haha
Was it GlittaGloves cake batter mani perhaps? I just took inspiration from it myself, such a cute mani! I like the shimmer you added to your version!
ReplyDeleteI saw this technique on "liquid jelly" s site a few days back. But I also saw it on someone elses that I don't remember. I think liquid jelly was the first tho. I think it's genius! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Olivia C. and Summer!
ReplyDeleteRebecca, we think alike. ;) I'll keep my eyes open for that post!
Amber, I don't think it was that blog. I'm pretty sure the background was black. Thanks for the link though, her nails looked awesome! I loved the pink shimmer, too. :)
~Leslie~ It wasn't hers but thank you for the sweet comment!

??
Kat, you got it! Thanks so much. She did so well, I had to re-create it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for helping me & leaving nice comments.
If you told me before you wanted to do this mani, I would tell you that I think it wouldn't be nice...
ReplyDeleteBut now I see it, how original! I really like it and I want some icecream... Right now! :-D
This is really interesting . I like it .
ReplyDeleteI LOVE glitter sandwiches!
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea! :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome with the shimmer!!! Thanks so much for the shout out :) I know what you mean, sometimes I can't remember where I see designs and it drives me crazy lol
ReplyDeleteGothamPolish - Thank you for checking it out. I have learned my lesson; I always save the photo with a link now in my 'Inspirations' folder so it won't happen again. I never want someone to feel like I've stolen their work. xx
ReplyDeleteI totally need to try this! It reminds me of Deborah LIppmann "Glitter in the Air" (which I have and love) but with MORE glitter! I already own Party of Five Glitters (ha, I chuckle whenever I say that name) Plus the fact that it reminds me of food = bonus! Awesome job :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ! :)
