I'm Feeling Green ... and Glittery + Update

 Avon "Sweet Mint"  + ELF "Golden Goddess"
 

 

This type of green always draws my attention. I love how bright and eye catching it is!

Sweet Mint confuses me. This is not even close to what my mind conjures when I think "mint". I like to think I know mint pretty well, too, it being one of my favourite polish colours. This polish is in the same realm as OPI's "Who The Shrek Are You?" I should do a comparison post. I have a few that I've been meaning to do...

Application was perfect. My hand was a tad shaky when I applied this so I was a tiny bit messy around the cuticle but that's my error. If you have the opportunity to try out any Avon polishes, I highly recommend that you do! I love the brush (flat, medium-sized) and it isn't overpowering, smell-wise. Pigmentation is great too - I used 2 coats for this mani.

Golden Goddess is a beautiful gold glitter polish which consists of golden shimmer, gold micro-glitter and medium holographic glitters. I used only one coat of this to do a faint gradient starting at the free edge of my nail and fading it towards the cuticle. I wish more holo hex glitters came out onto the brush and I could have done a second coat but I like how subtle this was against such a bold colour. I did fish around in the bottle to try and get a hex glitter or two, just to make every nail even.

Off topic. I've been considering doing an update nail polish collection post and am wondering if this is something you might like to see. OPI "Spark De Triomphe"

Lately I have been really into layering polishes. Part of this new obsession is that I'm trying to swatch my whole collection and I have a large amount of glitter polishes in said collection. I have for you Spark De Triomphe which I purchased in the Serena Gram Slam pack with the White Shatter. (I also got the Rally Pretty Pink, which I swatched last year, with Red Shatter duo.) I layered it over Elf's Metal Madness from this post here.

Ouuu, so pretty. Every time I see a glitter mani I think:

1. Pretty

2. Oohh, that's gonna be a pain to remove.

Haha, who's with me, huh? I actually saw a really neat trick to remove glitter polish that isn't the foil method. *gasp* I know, right!? I'll try it out on myself first and then share it with you in the coming weeks.

I have to admit, when trying to describe this polish everything I was trying to put into words was ... lacking. My solution? A copy and pasted description, courtesy of Michelle from All Lacquered Up.

"OPI Spark de Triomphe is the bright shining star of this collection.  This clear based glitter is chock full of so many kinds of glitter; silver and gold micro-glitter, silver and gold foil pieces, gold hexagonal glitter.  It’s a cornucopia of glitzy goodness.  The overall effect comes off more gold than silver but the gold is more champagne than yellow. Adding the silver particles definitely keeps this one neutral.  One could use this as a topper but the glitter is SO jammed in the base that it really steals the show from whatever color you layer it over." - Michelle, All Lacquered Up

How perfect is her description? Seriously, wow. Thank you, Michelle! Needless to say, this is an amazing glitter polish and if you can find it, you should definitely pick it up! (I've seen the duo's on sale for half price at various Canadian retailers.)

Pink Wednesday: Elf "Metal Madness" & Collection Question

HAPPY FEBRUARY 1st!

Wow, a second week in a row that I'm featuring a pink polish. Mind you, it's only my accent nail but that still counts, right? Maybe I should jump back on board with Pink Wednesday's ...

 Elf Metal Madness, 2 coats 

OPI La Paz-itively Hot (Matte), 2 coats

Seche Vite on the accent nail only

Ouu, holo shimmer. YES PLEASE! Both polishes applied easily although OPI was better, as it usually is. I added a coat of Seche Vite on top of La Paz-itively Hot because I wanted a cohesive finish on all nails: shiny! I love adding topcoat to matte finish polishes because the most beautiful shimmer jumps right out, so pretty!

I wanted to add a little something extra to this mani so I took Metal Madness and added 4 dots to my accent nail. I think it looks very futuristic, if I do say so myself. ;) Take a peek!

Do you like? I do. 

Let me mention that the ELF polish absolutely stunk. It smelled like cheap burning plastic. Gross. Did it stop me? Clearly not, but it's worth mentioning.

I just finished re-organizing my collection and it's been quite a while since I did my last collection post.
