Pink Wednesday: Essie 'My Place or Yours"

Good morning & Happy Pink Wednesday. I don't have a new mani to show you today (and like I said last week, I hope this still counts ...) I couldn't bear to take off Pucci-licious, it's just too pretty. These photo's were taken about 3 weeks ago and under an overcast sky. We have gotten such a little amount of sun this Spring, it feels like Winter. I think my retina's will burn if I ever see that glowing orb in the sky again. ACK!

This polish is slightly more pink than what it is showing on my nails.

'My Place or Yours' is a coral-based pink and it took 2 thick coats for opacity. I probably should have done 3 thinner coats, but I'll deal. I find this colour quite flattering: these pictures really don't do it the justice it deserves. I'm not much of a pink-wearer but the day I wore this I was also wearing a new top I purchased in almost the exact shade, maybe slightly brighter. I felt awesome. Strange, considering I wear neutrals 85% of the time. (Mostly black, gray and white ... some say boring, I say classic.)

Swatch: Color Club "Pucci-licious"

I hope you're having a great Tuesday. :) After I wrote yesterday's post (Haul) I went to the mall, which happened to have the other Winners that is in my area. Whenever I go to Winners I make a beeline for the beauty area to check to see if there are any new Color Club sets. (The mall Winners gets them more than the other, non-mall Winners.) 

I almost lost my mind - THERE WERE 3 NEW SETS! I am so gosh-darn addicted to Color Club that I, of course, picked up all three sets. At $12.99 a pop for 7 polishes, you just can't go wrong. I always buy them up. When I got to the counter to pay two ladies in the other line wanted my opinion on them and where they could find them. I happily shared my opinion and their location and then thought "CRAP! I shouldn't tell them, then they will stalk Winners like me to snatch them all up." Hahahaha, does this sound familiar or am I the only psychotic covet-er of Color Club?

You can see me in all these photo's, the top coat is unbelievably shiny.

Unfortunately I couldn't get these to photograph true-to-colour so I went on Paint and made my own swatch which is as close as I can get it.

Pucci-licious is from the Poptastic collection and I am loving it. It is purple leaning slightly blue - my favourite. (Not quite into 'blurple' territory.) The application of this polish was perfect for the first few nails but as I continued the mani I did find that it started to get thick which made application a bit of a pain. The plus side is that this polish did seem to self-level which was fantastic. A carefully placed topcoat fixed the problem by about 98%. (I like to be accurate, haha.) Also, this polish dried with a satin finish which is to be expected from such a bright colour, but it still threw me off ... I was expecting a creme finish from such an opaque polish.

Good afternoon! A big thank you to my followers for helping me get to 150 (152 to be exact). I appreciate each and every one of you! :)

Revlon 'Powder Puff' & OPI 'Turquoise Shatter'

Good afternoon! Today I am very excited to show you my new Turquoise Shatter from OPI. I got it a few days ago and put it on about 15 minutes ago. After seeing so many people layering this Shatter over fun bright colours, I wanted to try something a little different. I layered it over my Matte Suede Revlon in 'Powder Puff'. The two different finishes look really cool IRL; not sure how well that translates in the photo's. Anyway, the finished result looks like a pool liner to me, and it's all love. See below!

Left hand, no top coat.
Please excuse the dry cuticles - 100% acetone can do that.

I wanted to show both my left and right hands as well as what my mani looked like with and without a topcoat. Unfortunately we don't have any sun here but I think you can still see how awesome this is. On my left hand I used a really thin amount of shatter polish and on my right I used a bit more. Which look do you like better? I can't decide.

Swatch: Revlon 'Royal'

Good morning! First off, I just want to say that I am STILL rocking my 'Who The Shrek Are You?' mani from Tuesday night. This is UNREAL. More than 80 hours of wear, I'm shocked and still in love with it. It will come off tonight but I will love every remaining minute of it's existence. Haha. (So dramatic.)

Today I bring you the famous Revlon jelly polish: Royal. I have to be completely honest - I'm not sure what the hype was about this polish. Maybe I apply polish really bad (somehow I don't think that's quite it) or maybe I picked up a bad bottle. I found that it didn't level itself well, so some areas have thicker pigmentation while some spots appear to be sheer/translucent. 

Now the colour is gorgeous but it wasn't just the application that had me confused about all the hype, it was also the wear. I had this polish on for about 5 hours before my middle finger polish popped off. Yeah, that's right, 50% of my polish popped right off. I was at work and couldn't fix it - I wasn't pleased. By the end of work 3 nails were wrecked. I'm not normally that bad on my nails and wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary so I know it wasn't related to anything I was doing. *sigh* I really wanted to love this polish.

This polish dried with a strange, almost semi-matte/suede finish.
CORRECTION: It dried plastic. (Thanks Ulmiel!)
I added a coat of Seche Vite for shine.

It looks so dark here. Lighting really affects the way this polish looks.

I have been finding that Revlon is a brand where it is 'hit-or-miss' almost every time. I purchased Emerald City, Fire Fox and Powder Puff, their new polishes with the matte-suede finish, and they all seem like winners. (I only swatched them so I don't know what their durability is like but they apply like a dream for me.) However, Royal and Beach (from their scented polish line) have been giving me issues. Oh well, you can't win them all I guess.

Have you tried Royal? What is a royal pleasure or a royal pain in the butt?
