Glitterati

I've come up with a new nail look that is really easy to create, see below for pictures and "how to".

This look has four simple steps. Feel free to change the colour to your favourite one.

1. Apply a base coat, I like using a nail strengthener as my base coat.
(Sally Hansen 'Hard As Nails' in Clear)

2. Apply two coats of black polish.
(L.A. Colors Nail Lacquer in 'Black Velvet' NP136)

3. Apply a glitter polish to an accent nail, I chose my ring fingers. You could apply the glitter polish to all nails if you like.
(Wet n Wild Wild Shine in 'Kaleidoscope')

4. Apply a generous top coat to keep your manicure looking great.
(L.A. Colors Color Craze in 'Voltage' NP401)

So that's it, I hope you enjoyed it! Comment to let me know your thoughts.

A New Idea?

Source: http://www.highsnobette.com/news/category/nail-art/page/2/
Let me begin by saying that the above photo is not a photo of my nails! My manicure from my post yesterday is still intact, thank goodness. (Please do not chip, please do not chip, LOL.)

I'm considering the above look as something I will try out when I get my Ebay haul in a couple weeks. Black tips have been trendy for a couple years now but I personally have never tried them and am eager to do so. Plus, with the addition of glitter (no pun intended... plus, addition...) I am raring to try this out!

I also mentioned that I am recovering from the terrible habit of biting/picking at my nails. I am proud to say that I have not even wanted to touch them - they look too pretty! I like to think of them as 'mini masterpieces'. Haha, I'll get there ...

Would you ever give this black & glitter tip manicure a try? Comment to let me know - I would love to hear your thoughts!

Purple Confetti

Happy April 1st!

Once again a couple of my nails were victim to some polish damage and instead of just fixing them I did a brand new manicure instead. I know most manicures are supposed to last a week but so far the longest I’ve gone is four days. What can I say, I get bored.

I had a difficult time trying to come up with a look I wanted to do. There are a bunch of things coming in the mail for me from Ebay and a lot of the looks I have in mind need my purchases. (I purchased some dotting tools, detailing brushes, rhinestones, nail stickers, nail art polishes, etc.) Therefore I am working with basic nail polishes for the moment. (I am not trying to say that it’s impossible to do your nails without these tools, but for what I have in mind it would make the job a whole lot easier.)

The look I have created is below. I really like the look of a diagonal swipe across the nail, so you probably remember seeing a similar look from my first blog post. I apologize for the poor picture, however this look was very difficult to capture on camera.

This look consists of 2 coats of a medium, glossy purple polish (no glitter), with a diagonal swipe in a darker purple shade. Over top of the diagonal swipe is a multi-coloured glitter polish. I finished off with a durable top coat.

Base Coat: Sally Hansen - Hard As Nails in ‘Clear’
Medium Purple: L.A. Colors - Color Craze in ‘Nuclear Energy’ NP417
Dark Purple: L.A. Colors - Nail Lacquer in ‘Purple Ice’ NP121
Glitter Polish: Wet n Wild - Fast Dry in ‘Party of Five Glitters’ 238C
Top Coat: Sinful Colors Professional in ‘Nail Hardener’ 03

If you have any suggestions for me let me know in the comments and I’d be glad to give it a try for you!
